San Diego COMIC CON!! - Day 15

WARNING: THIS POST WILL BE PICTURE HEAVY!

This morning we woke up early. Tif and Ozzie took us to breakfast at Buccaneers, a local restaurant booth on the beach.

Kim had a California breakfast burrito, minus the potatoes. It was scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, and guacamole. Paul had a buck muff. It was an English muffin with bacon, egg, and cheese. We walked on the beach and touched the Pacific Ocean again.

Then, we boarded the Coaster train from Oceanside to Sante Fe in San Diego. The train has two stories and mostly follows the coast, so the views are amazing.

When we arrived in San Diego, we followed the crowds to the Convention Center. The city was decorated specifically for the event. People watching was fun.

Once we registered, we got our swag bags and went on our way. Here are some of the highlights of our adventure:

One of the first things we did after we registered and got our swag bag was to head over to the Del Ray Booth.  Paul tweeted with author Scott Sigler and ended up meeting him at Del Ray publishing. We bought his latest book Alive and got it autographed and took some pictures with him and his staff. We are listening to his free podcast of the book, which is released on the 14th, and now we have an advance copy to read if we can't wait for the next chapter. Scott Sigler is one of Paul's favorite authors so this was a major highlight of today.

After that we had a chance to really walk the floor of the Exhibit hall and check out all the cool ComicCon exclusives.

We found a graphic novel of The Scorch Trials and had it signed by the team. Then, we met James Dashner and had him autograph our copy. This is pretty cool because we just listened to the Maze Runner trilogy on audiobook during our travels. We finished it Friday and were able to have a meaningful discussion about the plot and events.

We went around and saw some of the awesome costumes from the movies and T.V. shows that we represented at the ComicCon.

Nintendo had the new game Super Mario Maker (it comes out in September) available for play. You get to build your own Mario levels in honor of its 30th anniversary. Kim tried it out. The staff member knew Kim was super excited about the game, so she gave us tickets for free T-shirts!

Next we went over to the Ash vs. Evil Dead booth area.  Its the new show that is a continuation of the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness movies.  We got to experience the trailer that Ash lives in, while getting to watch the latest preview for the T.V. show.  It was pretty awesome and definitely one of Paul's highlights.

Kim always makes comments that jokes are "punny," so the book "Punnie" by artist Llyn Hunter? Really caught Kim's eye. She ended up personalizing it with a sketch and an autograph. Check her out.

One of the coolest things was a few of the props and costumes from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, coming out in December.

AND WE RAN INTO THIS GUY --

We really enjoyed all the people who dressed up and wish we could have dressed up...next time though.

We took the train home and got to watch the sunset over the Pacific during our travels. Our feet hurt and we are ready put them up! We are, however, pumped at the thought of coming back next year!

We finished the night by sampling some of the craft beers that Ozzie and Tif make while we threw some darts.  They were delicious!
